Chapter 10: A Sleuthing Trip
Frank and Joe are thrilled to find out the surprise – a flight to NYC to help Dad on the case! Once in the Big Apple, the three detectives visit Harold Morley, the original purchaser of the red wig. Morley is an actor and immediately relates how his dressing room was robbed one night! His watch and diamond ring were taken, along with the red wig. Baffled as to what to do next, the Hardys decide to look for the store where the old hat and coat were purchased, but once there, the owner can give them no leads. Mr. Hardy then takes the boys to the New York City Police Department, where they look through the files for thieves who are known to use disguises. And there, finally -- they find a possible suspect!
